THE WIDE REACH OF LAKE PILLSBURY
In addition to the 450 families, small businesses, ranchers and others who call Lake Pillsbury “home,” there are countless benefits:
The lake is part of a three-lake water supply system that assures water security for hundreds of thousands of people in our region. They rely on the water supply for drinking, farming, fire fighting, aquifer replenishment, recreation, and the economic well-being of their communities.
Thousands of visitors flock to the lake each year to enjoy remote outdoor recreation, including camping, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, hunting, and world-class bass and trout fishing.
Ecosystems along the Eel and Russian Rivers depend on Lake Pillsbury water for habitat, food, migration, and spawning.
Firefighters rely upon Lake Pillsbury for critical water to combat wildfires (aerial and ground attacks), as demonstrated during the Mendocino Complex Fire in 2018 and the August Complex Fire in 2020.
